We are the women of proverbs.

So I've been spending a lot of time with God on the subject of my future marriage, and I've come up with a list of things I believe He's laid on my heart.  I thought it would be interesting to see what you guys thought, and if you had any other qualities that you look for/would look for in a guy.

What to Look For...
  • Spiritual relationship with God
  • Respect for authority
  • God-given confidence
  • Integrity
  • Knowledgable of the Word
  • Strives for purity
  • Has strong, deep relationships
  • Stands up for what is right and holy
  • Gentleman-like qualities
  • Humble
  • Serves the church
  • Reflects Godly character
  • Unknown in the dating game
  • Encourages and loves his neighbor
  • Listens to some Christian music
  • Brings bible to church
  • Pours heart into worship
  • Speaks truth
  • Doesn't talk sexually
  • Unflirtatious
  • Non-egotistical

    Spiritual relationship with God
This is the most important of all.  He must be in love with God first, before thinking he can provide for another human being.

    Respect for authority
The bible says to respect all who are in authority and our elders.  Disrespect to these people means disrespect to anyone else in his life.

    God-given confidence
A confidence that isn't of man, but a glow that can only be given by time with the Lord.  A confidence that reflects God's workmanship from within.

He must have strong morals and strong beliefs.  He must be known for what he believes in and be unashamed and unmoved by wordly influences.

    Knowledgable of the Word
He must read his bible--without it, He is nothing.

    Strives for purity
He must be strong in morals and strive to keep himself pure for his future wife.

    Has strong, deep relationships
He must show effort in loving people genuinely.  How he treats his family is how he will treat you.

Stands up for what is right and holy
He must show a strong passion for what is correct under God.

    Gentleman-like qualities
He must show the heart of a servant.

He must not be full of foolish pride.  Pride comes before a fall and leaves no room for God to work within.

    Serves the church
He shows his devotion to the things most important to him.  We are never more like Christ than when we serve others.

    Reflects Godly character
He continuously grows in Christ, showing Christ-like quality consistantly.

    Unknown in the dating game
He will have a hard time striving for pure, eternal God-ordained love.  He will be tempted to move on after a certain period of time.

    Encourages and loves his neighbor
We are here to first and foremost, serve others.  We must love our brother as we love ourselves; do unto our neighbor as we would have them do unto us.

    Listens to some Christian music
Young people listen to music as much as anything else (if not more); what goes in will come out.

    Brings bible to church
Shows that church is for spiritual growth, not just a social event.

    Pours heart into worship
Shows his passion and servantship for the Lord shamelessly.

    Speaks truth
Doesn't waste time with gossip, foolish talk or lies.  He continuously encourages those around him, speaking Godly words.

    Doesn't talk sexually
Doing this stirs up passions in the heart for sexual things we shouldn't be dwelling on until marriage.  It makes room for more sexual sin to come in.

He's conciously aware that he has a future wife that he needs to respect, needs to respect girls, and needs to respect himself. Flirting can get the imagination going where it shouldn't.

Isn't looking for someone to stroke his ego. Looks to fulfill someone more than to fulfill himself.

I have most of the same things as you. My no 1 is that he is in love with God more than anything or anyone in this world

I think that's awesome!
God has given me visions of my future husband every since I was a little girl, and since then I keep a journal where I write letters to my soulmate in it since we're not together now, and on my wedding night I'll give it to him. That might sound weird, but it's not to me ♥
